Originally from the Midwest, I moved to the beautiful state of North Carolina over 40 years ago. For 27 years I taught elementary school in the Piedmont Region of the state.
Upon retirement I was beach bound, ready to pursue a long awaited dream of selling real estate at the beaches of NC. In 2017 My husband and I decided on Calabash as our new home.

I took a deep dive into the housing market at a time when you’d be laughed out of the room even if you made an offer that was full asking price. The offers that succeed had to be bid up. That was the situation in which I found Cheri Gibson. She knew the southeast coast of North Carolina exceptionally well. She knew I had only one day to spend looking at homes. She compiled a list of seven possibilities. The first six were wrong for me. We hit the jackpot on No. 7. As frustrating as the whole market situation was at the time, Cheri never lost patience, went out of the way point out things about an individual property that she thought I should know without ever injecting her personal opinion into any situation. When I decided on the house I wanted, she accepted my statement that I would only offer $20,000 over asking. Cheri told me later she hadn’t thought it would be enough, since the house had had a couple dozen offers after just two days on the market. But it was enough, and I got the house.
